BRIEF INTRODUCTION

... Bea Rozendaal belongs to the group of Dutch realistic painters. In this category, she often represents the so called fine art painters. It’s therefore that she sees herself not as an artist, but more as someone who practices the ‘old trade of painting’. She was trained by several well-known Dutch artists to develop her talent and to master different techniques. At the ‘Free Academy of Visual Arts’, Bea Rozendaal developed her drawing. She works with water colour, acrylics but in generally with oil paints. You won’t find wide brushstrokes in her paintings, because she composes her work in different colour coatings and when finished, the result is a colour that radiates warmth.

Although she paints many subjects, Bea fell in love with still life painting. She is inspired by the Dutch painter Henk Helmantel, who lives in the province of Groningen (Westeremden) and by Rob Møhlmann (Appingedam). Sometimes Bea applies her own characteristic style: the background of a still life looks more or less coarse, because she uses different tools, for example a palette or a small piece of sponge. The subject itself is painted in very fine brush strokes and the result is a ‘coarse background’, combined with details in a delicate touch. It is a challenge for Bea to create this special atmosphere in her still life paintings so that the viewer can feel, as well as see, the impression.
